Research into the measurement of social gain

The Community Radio sector is required to provide benefits to the community it is intended to serve, both on and off-air. However, there is currently no standardised approach within the sector to either measure of evidence the social gain that stations provide, which means it can be challenging for these stations to demonstrate the positive work they complete.

Having listened to these challenges, Ofcom commissioned new research carried out by Wavehill to develop a report which Community Radio stations can use to support the measurement or social gain. This research sought to better understand how stations currently measure social gain, identify the challenges stations face and provide practical resources for stations to use.
