Our role in the designation of radio selection services is to provide the Secretary of State with a report making recommendations about which radio selection services should be designated. It is for the Secretary of State to decide which of the RSS available in the UK are designated. This statement sets out our principles and methods by which we will arrive at the recommendations in the report.

Hundreds of new local stations take to the digital airwaves

Ofcom has today published a progress update on its small-scale DAB roll-out across the UK over the past three years, with 115 licences awarded and 64 new multiplexes so far launched.
