Building a better understanding of what works in media literacy is vital to Ofcom’s work. Through our programme of commissioned pilot interventions, we test the effectiveness of different initiatives and approaches and share findings with the Making Sense of Media (MSOM) network and beyond.

This report examines three media literacy train the trainer pilot programmes for professionals working with children and young people, supported by Ofcom.

It explores what works for this type of delivery, drawing out common challenges and offering tips for other organisations to support their own workplace development programmes.

We’d like to thank the three organisations involved, Stem 4, Internet Matters and Shout Out UK (SOUK). You can find their evaluation reports below.

By sharing these reports, and our own analysis, we hope to contribute to the creation of a skilled network of professionals who work with children and young people, supplying them with the knowledge and tools they need to support their media literacy.

This report is intended as a catalyst for further discussion. We welcome you to join the conversation through our Making Sense of Media network.
