Ofcom has today opened an investigation into IX Wireless relating to its compliance with the Electronic Communications Code (ECC).
The ECC regulations enable the installation and maintenance of communications networks, subject to certain conditions.
We are investigating whether IX Wireless has complied with requirements to ensure that lines installed over the carriageway of a maintainable highway are placed at least 5.5 metres above the surface of the road. We are also looking at compliance with rules around the inspection and maintenance of infrastructure to ensure it does not cause damage or injury.
This is our second investigation into IX Wireless, following the opening of an investigation earlier this year about a different ECC requirement, which remains ongoing.
We will publish updates on these investigations in due course.
